Winter Storm '07: the revenge of '06
By on 2007-01-18

Everybody's talking about the crazy ice storm that hit the state, so maybe we should.  Anybody have any good stories?  Anybody get stuck?  Anybody still not driving?  My house hasn't fared to well, since my pipes froze, it's been under 60 F for days, and my front door is still iced shut.  At least the tire chains have served me well.  I took them off today, but kinda regret it since I can't get up the driveway without them.

I moved north so I would finally get some snow winters

and the year I do Oklahoma gets hit with two 5-year storms in the same winter? I don't get it.

Isn't driving, my street and driveway is still slicker-n-snot, no good stories, except that I read through old stories yesterday, it was sad

Life without snow chains

Not only can I no longer get up the driveway, but my car kept sliding down.  With the parking brake on and transmission in gear, there's still nothing to hold the front wheels, so my poor car just skids back down the driveway.  I think I need to swipe a pickaxe from somebody to dig out.  This will not stand.

There's more snow on the way.  Latest report says to expect around 4 inches here and up to 8 further north.

sounds more like a 20-

or a 100-year storm.
Couldn't post comment: DB Error: constraint violation
Possibly I wasn't logged in?

not logged in?

I'm surprised there was a reply link if you weren't logged in.  If that happens again, please copy the error message and try to remember as much as possible about what you were doing.  I'm having trouble figuring out what happened that last time.

Storm cost rising

New tire: $55
Wiper: $15
Transmission mounts: $40-$60 plus many hours of labor

This storm is killing my poor car!

My best guess

is that I had been previously been logged but had timed out so there was a reply option but when I selected it I wasn't logged in, make sense?

yes, but I tested that

In that scenario, the worst thing you would have gotten infinite redirects (until I fixed that bug yesterday).  When posting a comment, it checks authentication stuff before touching the database.  Since that would have failed, the insert wouldn't have been attempted.

I'm really interested in this bug.  Let me know if you see it again.
